About Soap Cult Australia
Soap Cult Australia is the new name for Sailor Mouth Soaps, a Brisbane based alternative soap company that first began in 2010. Founder Aliya Hutchison creates every product to look amazing in your bathroom and feel just as good on your skin.
Our handmade soap is vegan, palm oil free and made in our solar powered studio. We ship carbon-neutral and support our local homeless shelter with soap donations.
Soap Cult Australia is inspired by secret societies, cults and occult magic from around the world. The brand is designed to reflect how our soap makes you feel. Like you're part of a secret cult; the special few that understand how luxurious and decadent a creamy, rich soap lather is on your skin.
We began Sailor Mouth Soaps (now Soap Cult Australia) with the mission to banish boring bath time. Not much has changed since then. We still think mass-produced soap is boring AF and dries out your skin. Most of my life, I thought I was allergic to soap. That was until I tried a a bar of handmade soap. We're constantly hearing that same feedback from our customers...maybe you've had the same problems in the past?
When we first began, being a vegan brand in Australia was unique and quite hard to accomplish. Thankfully these days most suppliers are offering vegan friendly alternatives to animal products so many new businesses can began their cruelty-free cosmetics journey easily - as it should be!
Now that we're all much more woke to the environmental havoc plastic packaging causes and climate change from carbon emissions, it's a natural extension for our ethics to grow and evolve as the science becomes clear. Plastic waste and carbon emissions are destroying our planet.
That's why in 2018 we removed all single use plastic from our products and offset the carbon from deliveries with tree plantings.
Soap Cult Australia continues where Sailor Mouth Soaps paved the way. We will always remain vegan, palm-oil free and cruelty-free as a minimum. In addition to that, we pledge to continuously find new ways to make our company even more environmentally friendly.
